Review of The Oxford Murders (2008) by Mitchell P — 12 Jan 2011
This was one of the most pretentious boring murder mysteries I have ever seen. It was all talk and no action. The most clever element about this movie is the multiple plot twists, in order to keep the audience from falling asleep.
I fell asleep. This is one of those movies created by smart people who feel so insecure about their intelligence by being overly complicated but once you strip the movie down to its bare essentials you realize its just a fluff piece.
The actors looked bored and the dialogue was just as stale as the performances given. Definitely a waste of time and talent, with an ending that basically didn't make any sense. This wasn't the worse pretentious film I've ever seen and had great promise.
The main problem was the director who obviously was too much of an amateur to handle this film. While it showed much promise with a few sprinkling of okay-ness throughout the film, it was just too much of a mess to pull back together.
