Review of The Oxford Murders (2008) by Mark N — 18 Jul 2012
I'm not sure why this movie was so poorly received. I found it rather entertaining and thoughtful despite it's presentation which has more in common with a 3 part ITV detective drama than a Hollywood blockbuster.
Hurt is delightful as the learned professor, Wood perfect as the upstart student and Pinon is a delight as ever, even with such a small role. The mystery is more complex than you would expect and the resolution an actual revelation with the facts on display for you to follow and ponder on as it progresses.
Not startlingly wonderful stuff but a solid thriller with a satisfyingly detailed conclusion.
