Review of The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) by Anne F — 10 Oct 2011
A posse goes out to look for rustlers who have also committed murder - they find the guilty men and decide to give them summary justice in the form of hanging. It becomes apparent that the case against the accused may not be as clear cut as they first thought - will they allow the men to stand trial? The film almost romanticises the plight of the men involved - it had the potential to really make supporters of capital punishment consider their views, but is too soft to do so.
