Review of The Outsiders (1983) by Jacob P — 01 Apr 2018
"The Outsiders" is a film that follows it's source material to a fault and as a result, hasn't been aging well as the years progress. Coppola's directing combined with a strict interpretation of the book lends itself to being overly sappy and sentimental to a point that it's borderline laughably disingenuous.
Nonetheless, the story is compelling and engaging which when combined with this all-star cast makes this a fun watch and a true classic no matter its tonal flaws.
