Review of The Outsiders (1983) by Master J — 01 Nov 2017
I've read The Outsiders like 100 times. It's probably my favorite book. I read it for the first time for my grade 8 English class. The film, and specifically the director's cut is just amazing.
There's so much brotherly love and male comradery. It's so sincere and pure. It really challenges traditional masculinity. It wants men to like sunsets, and cry unabashedly, and hug spontaneously and frequently just because they love each other.
(lol). And we won't complain. Jokes aside, it's kind of unwittingly subversive in that respect for its time and even for today.
