Review of The Outsiders (1983) by Gary G — 30 Jul 2009
(4 stars out of 5) They don't make epic films like this anymore. This all-star cast (before they were famous and made it big) will totally tug at your heart strings and possibly bring you to tears.
Coppola captures a universal teenage experience, even though it takes place 40 years ago. You'll identify with them whether you're a greaser or a soc. Kids suffer, fight, love and tear each other apart but mostly they just try to make their way in a world that doesn't give two shits about them.
You'll totally find yourself rooting for them even when they're making bad choices and totally feel sympathy for them--when those bad choices have dire consequences. Side note: For a film about thugs, they sure do cry a lot.
