Review of The Outsiders (1983) by Gj M — 06 Aug 2010
This movie is based on a very good book, but it really doesn't come off here. There are some very good actors involved in it, but the dialog just doesn't translate well on screen. The biggest problem by far, however, was the neck-break speed of the film. I mean, it is very hard to believe someone with such a talent of getting the most out of every moment, such as Coppola, directing this film. Events and plot-lines literally flash by on screen, to the point where character motivations don't even make sense. It almost felt like this was a race of some sort. Really nightmarish directing and editing.
One of those where the book is a million times better.
