I personally didn't like the book that I was forced to read, but when I saw the movie, I saw it differently. I thought of it as a bunch of lower class boys who make the best of what they have. Not to mention dealing with other snotty kids.
The outsider is really familiar if you see it enough, you realize everyone's gotta grow up. I also enjoyed the young cast, nice performances considering this is how a lot of them got into show business.
