Review of The Outsiders (1983) by Shiela E — 04 Jul 2011
Another one I have seen so many times that I have the whole thing memorized. doesn't hurt that practically all the actors my friends loved when we were growing up are in it: Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez (the somewhat sane member of the Sheen progeny), Diane Lane, even leif garrett and Tom Cruise (never have understood his appeal-arrogant, narcississtic assholes aren't my thing, but hey, to each his own).
they all put in marvelous performances. you end up loving every one of these misfits despite their flaws, and the things they went through broke my heart. I remember absolutely breaking down and SOBBING at some point right in the middle of a crowded theatre and not caring if anyone saw, but that might have had something to do with the fact that I was madly in love with Matt Dillon at the time (won't spoil it by saying any more than that).
