Review of The Outsiders (1983) by John S — 16 Jun 2015
I am just going to say it. I am not really a fan of this movie, but I can understand why people like the movie. Let me start with the problems I had. Johnny, due to Ralph Macchio, looks younger than Ponyboy, who in the book, is younger than Johnny.
2nd the introducement to Darry is not the best due to starting the movie where chapter 2 begins in the book. And if you read the book you'll know what I am talking about. The other problem I have is my most major.
The movie begins like I said before, at chapter 2. So, the characters were not introduced, and, I am going to say it, I didn't care for the characters as much as I did in the book. Most of the time in this movie, I kept thinking to myself, "I should be caring for them.
Why aren't I caring?" If the characters are not set up to where I knew them, why should care for them? Why should I ccare for when some people die? Even though I have problems with the movie, there is somethings I did enjoy.
One is Tom Cruise. He is so much fun to watch. The other is Dally and Sodapop. Finally is the climax. This was so much fun to watch. Overall, I am sort of glad I saw this movie, but I probably won't see it again.
