Review of The Otherworld (2016) by Matthew P — 21 Jul 2017

I stumbled across this movie and was very surprised with how much I enjoyed it, there's very few pagan movies out there. Being Irish I was excited to see a movie about the mythology surrounding my heritage, the film blends Celtic and pagan folk tales and myths into it's on unique story.

It's not something I know much about and despite being a romantic action movie (and a good one at that) it also educated me haha. Not something you expect normally. I particularly enjoyed the Druid, the character design stood out and the way he seemed to be behind the destiny of the story, weaving the story to push the characters to their end goal of happiness was inspiring.

Lugh's battle leading the painted Irish against the supernatural demons was reminiscent of the film Braveheart, if you had replaced the British with something much scarier. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in Celtic or Pagan stories.
