Review of The Other Side (2006) by Craig D — 08 Aug 2008
So, this was one of those sub-indie flicks. Shot on DV (usually in the basement with friends as actors), right away you can see the quality of it and know it's not a "film", I was going to dismiss it and move on.
I've never really seen a sub-indie flick that I liked. This one, however, was a step above the rest. It had good acting (they even got the girl from Kyle XY). It was edited well. It even had a few special effects.
I really loved the story. It's about a guy who escapes hell to save his girlfriend. All in all I really enjoyed this film. Perhaps it's the extremely low expectations I had for this. It's nice to see someone do something with nothing.
You can tell there was no budget, but they made an action flick out of it. Most importantly, though, it gave me hope for sub-indie flicks.
