Review of The Only Living Boy in New York (2017) by Stanley H — 04 Jan 2018
Yes, the story is a familiar one. Yes, the characters are a bit stereotyped. But the film is so beautifully directed that those flaws don't matter. Every shot is ravishing, sublime. How the critics could fail to notice this is beyond my comprehension.
If for no other reason, watch "The Only Living Boy..." with an artist's eye, and see what skilled direction and cinematography can accomplish in contemporary film.
