Review of The Omen (2006) by Tara S — 21 Nov 2010
Another year, another remake on what is deemed as a classic horror film. While the film contains many of the original's good points, it doesn't bring anything new to the table apart from looking polished and the special effects being more up-to-date.
The acting is OK. Farrow is the best thing about this film, giving the much needed menace to the film. The biggest disappointment though is the child himself. Unfortunately Davey-Fitzpatrick cannot touch the performance of the original Damian played by Harvey Stephens.
He's more like a child who has done something naughty like raiding the cookie jar rather than giving off the aura that he is the son of the Devil. A remake which has a few redeeming qualities, but not enough to push the original out of sight.
