Review of The Omega Man (1971) by Nia E — 04 Jan 2008
Flawed science fiction actioner. Chuck Heston is superb as Neville and the first half of the film is truly excellent, atmospheric filmmaking, with cool music. Unfortunately things soon go sour with the introduction of the other survivors, whereby the film becomes increasingly soapy, silly fare.
The religious symbolism in the film's climax is particularly ludicrous. It's definately a cult classic nonetheless.
