Review of The Omega Man (1971) by K S — 27 Jun 2008
Having never watched either the Vincent Price or Charlton Heston versions of Richard Mathesons I Am Legend I must say that maybe I'm just not a fan of this plot. For all intensive purposes, the premise should work but from what I've watched, the Will Smith and Charlton Heston versions are about as good as one another.
The Omega Man is uniquely 70's and quirky. The vampires are humanized here versus I Am Legend where the vamps are unintelligible vermin.
For what it's worth it is an entertaining picture but the philosophical heavy-handedness of the actual story weighs an already dated film down from todays viewing.
