Review of The Odessa File (1974) by Ashley H — 03 Jun 2011
It is a fact that many good films, often those made in the '70's, have a slower pace, certainly compared to the fast edited, MTV style fare these days, so this suspense thriller/drama about a German reporter played by Jon Voight who hunts down a Nazi hiding in plain sight (the fact that this story is based on facts, research/some actual events make this interesting) means the drama and plot move slow.
However, Jon Voight is very watchable, and this kind of movie is good to watch again these days considering the atmosphere in the world, with good lines like "I bear no hatred nor bitterness towards the German people.
Peoples are not evil. Only individuals are evil." Food for thought as I watched a recent TV newscast of an Arab cleric who explicitly promotes killing Jews to a listening audience of 40 million.
