Review of The Odd Couple (1968) by Stephen W — 03 Feb 2013
The Odd Couple, stars two of the funniest guys ever in film, Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. If you haven't seen this movie yet, then I suggest you go watch it right now because this movie is not only hilarious, but it's also got to be one of the greatest buddy comedies you'll ever watch.
Seriously, the chemistry between, Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau was terrific and the jokes between them were excellent, almost every scene of them two together I was laughing my ass off. I thought the story in this film was also done very well, I thought Felix's story was very emotional at times and I thought Oscar's story was pretty emotional too.
I loved how both of them were divorced and I love how both of them were the complete opposite of each other, so you know right away that's going to be funny. I, obviously thought out of the two of them, Walter Matthau was much funnier, Jack Lemmon was also funny, but Walter Matthau had me chuckling from start to finish.
Acting wise though, Jack Lemmon was probably better because all in all, Jack Lemmon was a much better actor and in this film he did play the more serious character, but even still he did supply some very good jokes.
I think what made this movie really funny was not just the jokes, but all the situations that Felix and Oscar go through, those are probably the most hysterical moments in the movie. So, I say again if you haven't seen this film yet, go check it out because it's one of the funniest movies I've seen.
