Review of The Object of My Affection (1998) by Mikael K — 23 Oct 2009
A comedy about a woman who falls in love with a gay man. And the woman is played by Jennifer Aniston. This didn't sound good at all. That's why I'm especially happy to state that "The Object of My Affection" is one of the very best romantic comedies I've ever seen. The film's surprising, tender, mature and deep. It doesn't try to go the easy way and be manipulative and pleasant like most films in this genre.
It's clear that this story has many things to say and it says them directly but with an analytical and open perspective. An no, face twisting Aniston hasn't learned how to act for this, but for some reason even she isn't too annoying this time.
