Quite a fresh stroy on paper, but it is too long and boring. Paul Rudd is a school teacher. Jennifer Aniston is a social worker. Paul is invited to a dinner of Alan Alda and Allison Janney. Allison is also sister of Jennifer.
Paul got to know Jennifer. His gay friend didn't turn up for the school play is because he is seeing another boy. He rent the room and stay with Jennifer. Both of them join dancing and become good friends.
His first sex is with a girlfriend in high school but relaise he is gay later. Jennifer is pregnant but didn't want her boyfriend John Pankow to know. She know he won't be a good husband. She want Paul to continue living together and take care of the child.
When everyone visit them, the news is expose. She move with the boyfriend but she just can't connect with him. Paul decided to accept her proposal. They make out in bed and nearly had sex until Paul ex boyfriend rings him.
He accompany him to a conference. There, he met drama critic Nigel Hawthorne and disciple Amo Gulinello. Paul and Amo start to see each other. Jennifer miss him and took a bus home. Paul bring her to watch a play and she invited them to dinner.
Nigel begin to question Jennifer if she is ready to see all guys bringing their gay partner to her dinner the future. At the wedding of steve Zahn, brother of Paul, she start to get emotional. She goes into labour and give birth to a baby girl.
Years later, everyone that is involve shows up watching the play of the girl. It was quite a messy affair. The real father didn't live with them. Paul help to take care of the girls.
