Lots of scares, of course, being set in a dark haunted place with crucifixes everywhere. However--script made no sense. No explanation of why the Vatican wanted Sister Irene of all people to go, and no reason for Valak to keep them alive longer than it took to enter the front door.
I guess you can say he wanted to toy with them? Weak script! And wasted opportunity to have a Vera Farmiga lookalike (her sister) play a younger Lorraine Warren. What a waste of a prequel! Other than, I guess, it was Maurice's origin story? LOL.
