Review of The November Man (2014) by Federico E — 25 Dec 2014
Proving his license to kill is still valid, Brosnan eases into a movie that recalls his 007 days, with less of the cheese and camp. In fact Brosnan adds some real menace and shows a streak of unrepentant cold-hardheartedness that recalls his villain turn in The Fourth Protocol.
The surrounding cast is not so interesting, especially Olga Kurylenko who failed to convince me of some of the craftier elements of her character. Luke Bracey makes something of an impression as the younger action model.
The story itself is not bad, if you forget the fact that the CIA seems to be shooting up Belgrade with not a sight of local police or military. Even older, Brosnan proves that he was at least capable of the grittier Bond that his replacement plays now.
A good recommendation if you're in the mood for some spy action.
