Review of The Notorious Bettie Page (2006) by Richard P — 27 Sep 2007
Odd little film, very good looking but superficial and emotionally flat. Page is portrayed as wide-eyed innocent throughout, with an uncanny knack for meeting men and women who will exploit her in one way or another.
Recreation of time and place is very well done, in glorious black and white with splashes of Technicolor - but one never gets a sense of what the real Bettie was like, or even how the film-makers thought she was.
