Potentially frustrating but nicely handled biopic that juxtaposes nakedness and character - we see all of Bettie, but we never really get to know her. The visual style and editorial choices in this film are hugely satisfying, constantly inventive without ever distracting the viewer unnecessarily and it leaves you informed without resorting to heavy handed portraiture.
