I will say that it is ridiculous to expect an audience to not see the narratives crossing from scene one, but even so, this was surprisingly true to the feelings of "first love" up until Gosling gets deployed.

After that, it's a bit cliche, but not to the point where it's unwatchable, and definitely not so that you don't still feel for them- you'll feel for them.
