Review of The Notebook (2004) by Connor F — 17 Sep 2013
In trying its absolute hardest to make you cry, it certainly is a tearjerker. Sadly, the lead up to this isn't all that special, and is only held up by Gosling and McAdams who have undeniable chemistry.
They prevent this from turning into a schmaltzy trainwreck. Girls will eat this up like candy, but the rest might have rather mixed feelings towards such a film with this fairy tale like plot. Truly a story for the hopeless romantic, The Notebook won't win many over who don't already adore this genre, but the undeniable emotion may just keep you from snoozing through this one.
