Review of The Notebook (2004) by Eytan D — 16 Feb 2014
I don't take many Nicholas Sparks movies seriously. They're mostly cheesy and overly sentimental. But not "The Notebook". Having finally watched it for the first time, this is the rare romance that grabs you from the beginning and never lets you go.
It's sad, but never sappy. It's sweet, but not too sweet. And that's exactly how a Nicholas Sparks movie should be. With a great script by Jeremy Leven, dedicated direction by Nick Cassavetes, and absolutely terrific performances by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, "The Notebook" is required viewing for any romance connoisseur.
I guarantee you can't watch it without getting a little misty-eyed.
