I received a copy of Night of the Iguana for Christmas this year so I am finally getting to see this movie. I have always been fascinated with films made from Tennessee Williams plays but some how always missed any opportunity to see this one.
Why did I wait so long. It's fascinating in the bizarre way that only Tennessee Williams stories can be. Ava Gardner has finally won me over with her performance in this movie. I always considered her just an OK at best actress.
But she is excellent here. She steals every scene from her first moment on screen to her last. Sue Lyon is terrible but I soon forgot how awful her performance was as she was is far over shadowed by everyone else.
And one of my all time favorite actresses, Grayson Hall, gives an Academy Award nominated performance that made this fan very proud.
