This has to be one of the best thrillers ever made!! The suspence is fantastic!!! Robert Mitchum steals the show as the sadistic, psychotic preacher; His acting is brilliant in this!!! Shelley Winters is also quite good; however does over-act a bit particularly in one scene.
There is also excellent usage of shadows and silhouettes to enhance the drama!
