Review of The Night of the Hunter (1955) by Marita L — 17 Mar 2010
This is a splendid piece of movie art, a true gem. It has lovely black- and white pictures, a tight script, a very fitting score and brilliant acting. Robert Mitchum is fantastic as the creepy rev. Harry Powell, and there is plenty of suspense to go around.
The movie is also kind of dreamlike, and it has aged really well- it does not feel the least bit dated. This film is part horror and part fantasy. I truly recommend it!
