Review of The Night of the Following Day (1969) by Kelly B — 02 Nov 2008
Not a bad caper film in which Marlon Brando and his confederates kidnap an heiress (Pamela Franklin) and hold her in an isolated French chateau. Brando has to contend with his drug-addicted girlfriend (Rita Moreno) and the fact that one of his confederates is a psychopath whom Brando suspects wants to kill the kidnap victim and all his partners to get at the ransom money; given that this member of the gang is played by a wild-eyed Richard Boone, Brando's character is probably right.
Its a very tightly constructed and well-made thriller and one of Brando's better acting job from his uneven late-1960s period.
