Review of The Night Listener (2006) by Martin L — 26 Jan 2008
Llikeable film but dissapoints considering the calibre of the talent involved. The Armistead Maupin script is inspired by a creepy episode from his life. And there's a solid cast of credible indie favourites (Bobby Cannavale and Sandra Oh) and A listers Robin Williams (good) and Toni Collette (better).
But the film struggles to balance its thriller aspect with the subtext of very different people struggling to feel loved; at a trim 77 minutes, good but less than its sum of parts.
