Review of The Night Listener (2006) by Jimmie H — 19 Nov 2008
It was just pointless to make this movie. There was an interesting concept there, but when the movie ends you don't know any more than you did when it started, Robin Williams was horribly miscast here, and the whole side-story of Williams' relationship with his ex gay lover had nothing to do with the story, and actually detracts from it.
The idea of the mystery of the kid being real or not was interesting, but at the end of the day what point is a mystery that isn't even close to being solved? I just found this to be overall disappointing.
However, I did think Toni Collete did a nice acting job here with what she had to work with.
