Yes, it's been some days since I have reviewed, or even seen a movie, and that is due to the fact that, where I live (Puerto Rico) had a major blackout that, literally, left the entire island without any power for over two days.

I don't wanna go on a rant, but let's just say that the electric company here is the worst company you can find on this island. No joke, they are the fucking worst. But that's neither here nor there and my thoughts on them are irrelevant to this review.

I watched this Tuesday night, the night before the blackout, so I'm sorry if my recollection of it isn't as great as it should have been. This review might also be shorter because of it. But, if I'm being completely honest here, I thought this was a pretty damn great film.

The fact of the matter is that this movie, pretty much from all angles, from the casting, to the writing, to the costume design, cinematography, etc all add up to make this a great movie. There's no denying the fact that the film just has an old-school vibe to it that's one of its stronger points, it just feels like a movie that you don't see much of anymore.

It's just got a completely different feeling than everything else that's out there right now and it definitely works in its favor since it helps it stand out and it has an easily recognizable feel.

The scripting itself is pretty fantastic all things considered, this has some of the best dialogue you will see all year and the story is actually pretty damn intriguing all things considered and it goes places you might not think it would go.

Not saying it's a wholly unique story, but there's some good twists and turns here that keep you intrigued to find out what the whole conspiracy is. But, of course, no review of this movie would be complete without mentioning the fact that Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe are absolutely fucking phenomenal here.

Seriously, like they're unbelievable together. Their chemistry with each other is out of this world and, of course, a big part of that is the dialogue both are given, but the fact of the matter is that they could not have cast two more perfectly matched people to be partners in a buddy movie.

They just complemented each other really well and they're a major part of why the film is as great as it is. Ryan Gosling is hilarious here and Russell Crowe plays a great straight man. I wouldn't call the film a full-on comedy, as there are serious parts to it, but the comedy that is there really is top-notch.

And, you know what, there is some character development, but they also leave a lot of room open for them to grow if a sequel is indeed ever gonna be made. I figure that this is gonna be one of those Anchorman things, where people will talk about a sequel for up to a decade before they actually come out with one.

I just get that feeling. Here's to hoping it happens sooner, cause I would love to see these two teamed up again. If we don't get it, then at least we have The Nice Guys. There's so many bits in the movie that I can't really even begin to go over them.

But trust me when I say that, I think, you won't be disappointed in this. An excellent movie that I would wholeheartedly recommend. Buy it, rent it. Whatever the fuck it is, just watch this movie and take in its greatness.
