Review of The Nice Guys (2016) by Tropicaces — 19 May 2016
I love Shane Black. To me, his writing is on par with Aaron Sorkin. And I love Los Angeles, especially anything set in the past. So this should have been a homerun for me; but I walked out with my heart sunk.
It's not a *bad* movie, but it's nowhere near as funny as Black's previous works (including IRON MAN 3) and the first half just isn't as engaging or interesting as it needs to be. There are nuggets of fun, and Gosling and Crowe play a great odd couple, but this was just nowhere near as enjoyable as it should have been.
