Review of The Nice Guys (2016) by Whiskeystories — 19 Sep 2018
The Nice Guys reminded me a bit too much of another film of Shane Black, one of my favourite movies: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. This bothered me quite a lot initially, but after watching it a couple of times I've come to appreciate the film more.
It's far from KKBB'S excellence, but it still delivers. Many jokes didn't work for me and I found the story to be stretched too thin by the end, but Ryan Gosling is fantastic in it, so it's worth a watch for him alone.
He brought one of the best comedic performances of the year and had wonderful chemistry with Crowe. I would definitely watch a sequel with these two in the future.
