Review of The Newton Boys (1998) by Ola G — 09 Feb 2014
This is one of those movies that the first time I watched it, I was kinda like "ah, it's ok" but then improved drastically with a second viewing. Director Richard Linklater, was clearly enamored of his subject and approaches these criminals as personifications of the misunderstood man and carefree American spirit.
The period details are well-done and all the actors have charm to spare, but the fact remains--*these are criminals and they are stealing other people's money.* If you have nothing to do on a sunday.
This is the film to watch.
