Review of The New World (2005) by Alex W — 17 Dec 2011
It goes without saying but this is an extremely well made film. The performances across the board are very good. One of Farrell's best performances. But after Farrell and Kilcher meet, the story didn't grab me.
And just like in 'The Thin Red Line' when the story starts to dip then Malick's filmmaking can wear on you a little. I didn't hate the movie, I just wished there was a stronger screenplay to match the poetic visionary that is Terrence Malick.
