Review of The New Daughter (2009) by Sari P — 29 Apr 2011
Unfortunately as usual, the source story is much better in print than when translated into a movie.
The movie did work hard, given the strong supernatural short story by John Connolly. The two main leads, Kevin Costner & Ivana Banquero, has no fault, and worked well together. But for some reason, the script lacked certain oomph, and it felt really flat overall.
It's certainly not Kevin Costner's best work, but I have a feeling it is the weak script's fault, and not his acting abilities that let him down.
