Review of The NeverEnding Story (1984) by Daniel K — 16 Aug 2010
It's hard to come up with a good premise for a fantasy film and make it pay off, but with the concept is great and the creature design is positively top notch.
The metaphor at the story's center is admittedly kind of corny, but the way the story is built around it is absolutely perfect and the message is appropriately geared toward children without beating them over the head. More importantly, it's exciting and fun, and I'd wager about as dreary and depressing as a children's fantasy film can get without being genuinely disturbing.
