Review of The Neon Demon (2016) by Blake B — 26 Jun 2016

Easily the most polarizing film to come out of 2016 so far. The Neon Demon is horrifyingly sexy, and mesmerizingly beautiful, but out of all the dark sensuality comes a want for something more. The story, without a doubt, is an interesting, complex, and unique one, but at times becomes hollow, and unsure of itself, with rather thin written characters.

Despite story, and screenplay issues, Nicolas Winding Refn still delivers an unconventional tale, with bold and beautiful cinematography, and a relaxing yet unsettling musical score. It is indeed, a hypnotic, art-house piece.
