Review of The Neon Demon (2016) by Rob F — 03 Sep 2016

Just saw this the other day and would definitely give it a 4 out of 5 rating. The story was extremely disturbing but in an intriguing way. Most (if not all) of the characters seemed underdeveloped but that only added to the overall feel of the story! A very risky move that worked out very well.

The ending, while it left somewhat to be desired, was also uniquely satisfying in its own way. The themes of female rivalry, competition, envy, lust, and even the ancient beliefs (??SPOILER ALERT??) in cannibalism all tied together so well and meshed on a level not often seen in cinema anymore.

Props to the cast, particularly Elle Fanning and Jena Malone, and the visionary style of director Nicholas Winding Refn!!
