As good as the plot is, Redford is NO baseball player. He's too stiff at the plate. As good as the reviews got on this one, by critics and users alike, I can't figure out why they are so high. It must be the Redford factor. This is a truely fantasy movie... a bat struck by lighting sends a ball into orbit. Wow.
The rags to riches formula is played out pretty well here, and I wouldn't watch this one again, but it was ok to watch once. If you like Redford, you will like this most likely.
Although portrayed as a sports movie, it is not about the sport but more about Redford in the sport.
