Review of The Nanny Diaries (2007) by Adnan M — 03 Sep 2010
This is wrongly marketed as a "rom-com". It's not. It uses an anthropological side-plot to examine the wealthy who hire Nannies to keep their children quiet and out of the way. Linney steals the film as the mother.
She manages to convey so much depth in the character that you're torn between hating her and pitying her. And the "love interest" is kept deliberately to the side so as not to intrude upon the story.
A film that manages to both break hearts and infuriate. A must see.
