Review of The Namesake (2006) by Patrick D — 09 Jul 2008
One of the most priceless and affecting movies ever made, if not a little long, The Namesake is Kal Penn's best acting in a long while. Irfan Khan is especially moving (likewise in the far-more underrated Darjeeling Limited) as Gogol's dad, who unexpectedly dies and forces Gogol and his remaining family's life into a whirlwind.
The Namesake is most emotional if you are close to your family, or have lost someone close. Definitely good if you're looking to discover your roots one day, or if you want to be entertained for a few hours.
