Review of The Namesake (2006) by Yuriy B — 03 Jan 2010
Surprisingly moving story about identity and integration between cultures and across generations. Stunning plot twist alters the film's direction and elevates it from culture-shock rerun to high art commentary in the final hour.
Mira Nair is at her best here, and Penn is magnificent in the lead role. He was born to play this role and it comes through very clearly.
