Review of The Name of the Rose (1986) by Jason H — 04 Feb 2011
The very best example of a medieval setting, both rich and authentic, and also very dark and haunting. The atmosphere is so thick you can smell and taste it. The script, based on Eco's book of the same name, is a compelling and perfectly executed murder mystery.
The performances are flawless and enrich this deeply philosophical film. My favourite film.
