I guess I've never found Leslie Nielsen to be very funny. His standard character seems to be a direct ripoff of Peter Sellers' "oblivious to the world", moronic detective in Pink Panther, which I never found very funny.
Too many silly sight gags and thoroughly predictable "geez, let's guess what the moron will do next" scenarios just bore the heck out of me. But I guess the general public loves that stuff.
