Review of The Mysteries of Pittsburgh (2008) by William J — 06 Aug 2009
Loved the book, it really moved me. Didn't catch the film earlier, based on all the negative comments. Just saw it and I liked it very much -- it cannot and does not convey Chabon's language skill (especially since the story is centered on a narrative) but it does transform the thoughtful novel to the screen in a way that's faithful to the book.
There is a haunting, mysterious quality to the film and fine, if low-key acting. So get past all you have read --obviously a lot of people don't like it but many of you will like this movie.
