Review of The Mysteries of Pittsburgh (2008) by Lou D — 04 Sep 2009
This movie got pretty killed by the critics but whatever, I liked it. 100% a coming of age movie and maybe even "lost soul finds his way home" - its not terrible and the characters are believable.
For about a second Sienna Miller's character reminded me of "Alabama" from True Romance. I mean, FOR A SECOND (in her first two scenes actually.) - I didn't read the book FYI. Nick Nolte was believable as a heel though I could have used some more interactions with him and son prior to the blow-off at the end.
Peter Sarsgaard is really good, but again I felt we needed to see more of him and his issues vs. hearing about it. I really liked the dialogue throughout. Not bad at all!
